Bungoma Small-Scale Farmers Forum (BUSSFFO).
This “umbrella” farmer organization was launched in September 2004 and is comprised of numerous self-help groups and farmers field schools in Bungoma district. Presently there are 1112 members and further registration is ongoing with annual dues of KSh 200 per member. Many of these members also belong to the Smallholder Marketing Movement. BUSSFFO has seven officeholders elected to one year terms including ones with specific responsibilities toward women and youth. The organization has an office and “go-down” in Bungoma town. The organization intends not to act merely as a network forum to exchange farmers’ views, but also to offer extension services to its members and to provide discounts for bulk-purchased farm inputs.
