Butula FA (Busia District).
It is based in Butula division, Busia district. It was started through an FAO project. It covers 8 locations, has 63 groups each with an average 25 members. They operate a bank account. It conducts merry-go-rounds and group marketing for poultry and sorghum. Current collaborative activities include working with ARDAP on composting, Striga control, soil fertility management network (WeRATE). The group faces the following challenges: Excessive post-harvest crop losses, limited input use and supply, exploitation by middle men during harvest and poor access to inputs as a group, information on marketing and communication facilities. The association may be contacted through its Chairman at P.O. Box 29, Butula, Kenya. Officials elected in 2003 will hold office for four years.
