Forum for Organic Resource Management and

Agricultural Technologies (FORMAT)

                     Dates, Venues and Organizers of

                  FORMAT Countrywide Events 2005

The Forum for Organic Resource Management and Agricultural Technologies (FORMAT) is a platform that promotes innovative management of organic resources occurring in both rural and urban settings. FORMAT also aims at enhancing effective linkages among stakeholders through the sharing of information, promising technologies and products. In October, November and December 2005, seven events intended to fulfil these goals will be held in six of the country’s eight provinces. Any individual, organisation or business enterprise with interest in organic resource management and agricultural technology development is invited to participate. Topics to be covered include and are not limited to soil fertility management, crop improvement, sustainable agriculture, integrated resource & livestock management, value-added processing, waste recycling, uses of indigenous plants and environmental protection. Those intending to present an exhibit or live demonstration should contact respective local organizers directly (FORMAT Head Office will NOT be receiving applications but will provide information and respond to enquiries regarding the events) with the titles of their presentations and full contact details (postal address, telephone, email) at least three weeks before the respective event. Selection of participants will be based on the talks, exhibits and/or demonstrations that are submitted. Each event will accommodate a maximum of fifty (50) invited participants. All the events will run from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and are open to the general public. Awards will be given to outstanding exhibitors in “Innovation and Community Service through Organic Resource Management”.  FORMAT activities are funded through a grant from The Rockefeller Foundation.
